Obama won. Phooey.

Take heart, conservative readers. Who knows? Maybe he'll have a pro-life epiphany.

..........

This week, I am a character in my kid brothers' comic strip. This is unprecedentedly cool. Dougie and Ricky informed me that I would have a role in their comic strip for at least a brief period of time. I guess this is something of a trial run. They're going to see how well I fit in with the other characters.

They told me a bit about the strip. It's called "Monsters", and it's a comic strip...about monsters. (Go figure.) They all work at Douglas & Richardson--a foodservice business, not unlike the company I work for. This fictitious company was, of course, named after the comic's brilliant creators. Now, sadly, the longtime monster receptionist at Douglas & Richardson has recently been forced to take a leave of absence for health complications due to stress in the workplace. I'm being brought in as a temp to take her place while she's being hospitalized for her stress. (No, really, I swear...this is the storyboard laid out to me by my 12- and 8-year-old brothers.)

Other characters in this strip include a security guard named Alfredo, who has a penchant for spaghetti and meatballs; and a down-on-his-luck monster (formerly a multi-millionaire) who--moved with compassion--gave his fortune away to a homeless Asian pancake who spent it all on a house and Chinese food.

I'm excited.

(Note: After writing this post, Amanda has informed me that she overheard the boys earlier today, and they were already discussing how they were going to kill my character off. I guess this was a more short-lived role than I had expected...)

..........

I found a song. It's by a band called the Dodos. Its title?

"Ashley"

How cool is that? It's not a bad song either...although I find it just a little unfortunate that the Ashley of whom the mournful writer sings is, in fact, leading him on.

Still. It's a good song. Check it out.

..........

That's all I have to say today, I guess.

Quintessentially yours, with brevity and love,
~Ashley Michele~

Woah!

I've *always* wanted to be a comic character.
Could you find out if they can fit in an illegal immigrant from India who plays a guitar, and munches chocolate.

Heck, and illegal immigrant from India would be enough, I'll tell people that's me. :-D
They should also scan and upload it on the web. That would also be pretty cool.

Verification of the day - snerfore. Ha!

HA! that's cute and clever and wonderful....

I guess being killed of is better than overhearing your 4 year old brother ask your mother "is Joanna EVER going to grow up?"

Oh dear.

Glad to hear you've survived the comic world. Happy birthday! Welcome to the grown-up world.

Well, that's what we call it...
