The Leaves Are Falling and it's 85º Outside.

That was going to be the title for my next blog entry, I was going to ask, "What's wrong with this picture?" but I didn't finish it in time for it to be relevant. Now the leaves are falling and it's 65º outside.
I wish it would hurry up and turn really cool! I want to wear the scarf and hat that I finished knitting...so soft and fuzzy and purple....
(Those are the pictures I promised I'd post when I finished.)
I was so proud of myself when I finished! But pride quickly turned to frustration as I realized that it wouldn't dip below 70º outside. Bummer. Does anyone know when scarf season is supposed to hit? We had a taste of it early this morning, but when's it *really* gonna come? Jo, when does it get cold in Missouri?

Yes...Missouri...I am so excited!!! On October 17th, I leave to go visit my darling friend Joanna and the other 14 members of her family in MO for a full week. Her Dad's a pastor at their church, and they have a big revival every year. I can't wait to go. I haven't been to one of those in ages. Churches that hold annual revivals seem to be a dying breed. The last one I attended was at a tiny little baptist church up the road, and that was about nine years ago. I love them! I wish our church would hold one.
Anyway, yeah, the revival is the 18th-22nd. And then the following Monday--my last full day there--we'll all trip out to Springfield to hang out and do nothing of importance!

Nothing important is always fun. ;-)

I can't wait! The only thing I'm not too thrilled about is the whole airport thing. Not flying, but all the stuff that comes before it. I haven't really flown on an airline. I think I did once when I was three-ish. But the whole bag check and no liquids and taking off my shoes thing? Nuh. Dad'll see me off, so that makes me feel a little better.
...............................................

Oh yeah, I realized I haven't blogged since Nana moved! Yes, my Nana--Mom's mom--moved to Dallas from San Antonio last weekend. She has an apartment that's about a two-minute drive from our house. Perfect! The actual moving process, as I understand, went pretty smoothly. I'm so very proud of my brother, Ricky...Nana needed some help, she had an office chair that needed assembling. So MY six-year-old handyman of a brother took the task upon himself. And he managed to assemble the whole thing from the wheels to the legs to the seat. All that was left to do was attach the back of the chair. AND....he did the whole thing without directions! I asked him how he figured it all out...."I dunno," he shrugged, "I just guessed."
Hee. He's always been inclined toward fix-its and such.
...............................................

My co-workers laughed at me for playing Bing Crosby's "Merry Christmas" album on my stereo today. I actually am very proud of myself for not playing it sooner. Typically, I start playing Christmas music around late July/early August. I inherited that urge from my mother. Her motto was "It's all about Christmas!"
Amanda and I usually start decorating the bedroom in red and green on October 31st. I hate Halloween with a passion, and Amanda's no fan of the day either, so we decorate our room, and exchange little presents, while my favorites from my collection of Christmas CD's play on the radio. And then, in the evening, we hunker down in the back of the house with the lights off--bowls of candy and popcorn close at hand--and watch Christmas movies. We call it Christmas Early. :-)
...............................................

And now I'd like to leave you with some cute and vaguely clever salutation, but I can't think of one. So I'll simply say goodbye. :-)
Goodbye!

Ash,
Bob the Copier Guy here. Just read your latest blog...smiles all around! That was fun reading. I think I'll go and read more of your writing. Maybe I'll start my own blog, too. And kudos to your lil' brother! Keep up the good work!

Sweet. Totally fun entry! I'm with Bob the Copier Guy...(Didn't I meet him in Dilbert?) "smiles all around" Christmas Early sounds delicious. I think I will have to start that here...if I am allowed to steal traditions. :-D I loathe and despise Halloween as well. icky. Can't wait to see you Doll!! The scarf and hat are DARLING!
4 DAYS! Or at least, in 27 minutes...

Ashley! Love the scarf and hat! You could wear them here!!! This past weekend, as I walked home from work on Sat and *to* work Sun, it was 39F! And it's supposed to be getting cooler! It was so nice to walk in the brisk air and see my breath - in mid-October. People at work thought I was nuts for walking when it was "so cold" out. It's THREE blocks, people! :oD

Pray you have a safe trip and hope you have nothing but good times there.

BTW, for some "real" autumn, go see the pix I've taken this past week! And this is only the beginning! Over the next few weeks all the trees (except the pines) will change and the mountains will be a rainbow of colors! :oD

Heh. Man, Indiana skipped that whole gradual descent into the colder seasons and went (quite literally) from 80 degrees to 55 degrees to the 40s in a weekend.

But hey, I love the cold weather.

It has climbed back up to the sixties this week, which is fine, particularly with the covered bridge festival (!) coming up. But cold weather is best, yes. I sympathize that you are unable to wear your scarf yet.

Oh man, you're one of those early Christmas people. *grin* I refuse to listen to Christmas songs until after thanksgiving, or sometimes as early as a week prior to.

But October? Heh. Ye crazy lass.

I hate Halloween with a passion.

Yeah, as a rule the day after Thanksgiving I start humming Silent Night again........

I start knitting soon. Inexpensive Christmas presents for friends+entertainment during many basketball games= good fun.

Missouri=great!! I am totally loving it here. It's lovely, and the leaves are turning here (they're still green at home, right?), and the people are darling!! I love them even more than I did over the internet!

But they keep laughing at everything I say....they find my "Ashleyisms" humorous and eccentric. :-S

And yes, Phillip the Darling found a website for me that told me how. *yay!*

Well, hopefully the scarf gets a lil use up here. Here's to hoping our enjoyment of your Ashleyisms isn't too discouraging. ;)

We'll have you saying 'green' b4 too long.

gum ever.

I've asked Jo, but I still don't get it....what the devil does "green" mean???
